DONNA
K. HERRING:
Office Manager / Paralegal
Mrs.
Herring was born in Duplin County. She graduated from James Kenan
High School. After high school, she attended Sampson Community
College, where she graduated with an associate’s degree.
She is married and has four children, ranging in ages from six
to eleven. Mrs. Herring is a member of Cohaire United Methodist
Church where she is the church secretary. She also attends Grace
United Methodist Church (a sister church) where she sings in the
choir, teaches a Logo’s class and is a youth director. Mrs.
Herring enjoys spending time with her family, listening to gospel
music, shopping and dining out.
Mrs. Herring joined the Law
Firm in December of 1999. Her duties as office manager involve
overseeing the entire Law Firm operations. In addition, she provides
litigation support to the attorneys and is case manager over personal
injury, medical malpractice, workers compensation and social security
disability claims. Mrs. Herring is a spiritual force that keeps
the Law Firm together.
ALBERTA
KIRBY-JONES: Paralegal
Ms.
Alberta Kirby-Jones was born and reared in Clinton, North Carolina.
She is the youngest of Mr. Kirby’s three sisters. Ms. Kirby-Jones
graduated from Clinton High School, in Clinton, North Carolina.
She furthered her studies at Sampson Community College, where
she received an Associates degree. She also attended Fayetteville
Technical College. She began work in the legal profession on July
1, 1991. That date is significant to her because she began work
as her kid brother’s secretary. She worked for Albert David
Kirby, Jr., attorney at law, until August of 1997. She moved to
another city and worked as a Paralegal until August of 2002. She
moved back to Clinton and began work for The Kirby Law Firm in
August. She has taken on many positions and responsibilities while
working at the Firm. Her present position is file manager for
the entire Law Firm. Her duties consist of ensuring that all electronic
files are complete and correct. Our office is paperless, for the
most part. Ms. Kirby-Jones is the person who insures that all
needed information is in the system so that we all can rest easy
at night. She is also responsible for scanning documents into
our electronic system. When she is not working at The Kirby Law
Firm she enjoys spending time with her daughters. She also enjoys
gardening. Mr. Kirby-Jones is considered the calming force in
our Law Firm. It has been said by many, “no one can speak
to Ms. Kirby-Jones for more than a minute and remain angry. She
has the ability and disposition to sooth the average beast”!!!
TERESA
RODRIGUEZ: Legal Assistant
Teresa
G. Rodriguez was born in Los Angeles, California. At age 11 her
family moved to North Carolina. She admits that it was difficult
leaving her friends in California and adjusting to life in Clinton,
North Carolina. She says, “I wanted to move back to Los
Angeles very much”!! She attended Butler Avenue School,
Sampson Middle and Clinton High School, in Clinton. She moved
to Wayne County North Carolina and graduated from Eastern Wayne
High School.
She began her employment at
The Kirby Law Firm in 2003. She started as a receptionist. Her
duties, in addition to answering the telephones and greeting clients,
involved data input and data management, bookkeeping, and limited
litigation support. After nearly two years as a receptionist,
Ms. Rodriguez was promoted to the position of District Criminal
Court paralegal. That position, which she now holds, involves
the management, oversight, and support of all traffic and criminal
matters in the District Courts. Ms. Rodriguez also serves as one
of the translators for the Firm. She was reared speaking both
English and Spanish. Her ability to translate Spanish is remarkable.
She along with Mrs. Ortiz creates a comfort zone for the Firm
and our numerous Spanish speaking clienteles.
YARELI
ORTIZ:
Receptionist/ Legal Assistant
Mrs.
Ortiz was reared in Clinton, North Carolina. She is a 2003 graduate
of Lakewood High School, in Roseboro, North Carolina. She graduated
within the top ten students of her high school class. She is a
leader within the Hispanic community in Sampson County and is
involved in many social activities. She is fluent in both English
and Spanish. She is familiar with and enjoys the French language.
She speaks a little French. Mrs. Ortiz enjoys playing soccer,
volleyball, and basketball. She loves to dance and to travel.
She presently holds the position
of receptionist/legal assistant. Her duties include file maintenance,
answering the telephone, translating, and greeting the public.
Mrs. Ortiz is the second of the two Spanish translators employed
by the Firm. Finally, she is the Firm’s “gate keeper”.
We would be at a loss without her.
